Ready for Spring? Us too! Come and join mosaic artist, Betsy Hicks, for a fun morning of play with a new mosaic techniques that you can complete in one day! We will mix mortar in your choice of c
Modern day mosaics can use beads, shells, beer lids, jewelry, broken pottery, slate, glass and pretty much anything else. Come enjoy a morning of creativity using materials the artist-instructor has collected from many locales and feel free to bring your own additions. Everyone will leave with an original mosaic and the skills to make many more.
All skill levels welcome.
For ages 16+; Children 8-16 are welcome if accompanied by an adult. Separate registrations need to made for both the adult and the child.
All supplies will be provided; just come have fun!
Date Night
Join us at Studio Arts Boulder's Date Night! Our instructors will get you set up and working together on potters' wheels for a few hours of dirt and fun.
Make a piece, we'll glaze and fire your favorite one, then give you a call when it's ready in about four weeks.
For any additional pieces you would like glazed and fired, there is a $5 fee per piece.
It's good to wear some clothes you can get dirty and shorter nails will be helpful. :)
Each participant will need their own registration to participate.
Clay and tools are included.

PLEASE NOTE:* Date Night tickets are non-refundable. If you need to change or reschedule your reservation, please do so by 5:00pm on the Monday before your scheduled Date Night. There will be a $25 fee for changing or rescheduling prior to 5 days in advance. No transfers, credits or refunds are allowed after 5:00pm on the Monday prior your Date Night.
4-Week Wheel Sampler • TUE (May 28 - June 18) • Pottery Lab

Always wanted to try the potter's wheel, but didn't know where to start? This class is a great intro to the wheel in 5 short weeks!
This class is intended to get you familiar with the basics of throwing on the potter's wheel. Students will have 3 weeks of throwing instruction, one week of trimming, and one week of glazing. This class is ideal for those who have limited experience and want to learn the basics of centering, trimming and glazing, with a short instructor demo and hands-on assistance each week.
Please note: This class does not include Open Lab hours or additional clay.
Ages 16+ to register
Class meets weekly on TUESDAYS.
Note: This Wheel Sampler will only meet for 4 weeks.
Will be available to register on Friday, April 5 at 8:00am.
Adult Session 3B • Intro to Relief Printmaking • WED (May 29 - June 19) • Pottery Lab

Learn the basics of carving rubber and wood, mixing and rolling slabs of ink, and printing blocks on paper or fabric. All materials and supplies included in the class price.
This 4-week specialty class is Studio Arts Boulder's early foray into exploring a whole new studio art form! Students will learn the basics of relief printmaking including carving, ink mixing and rolling and printing on paper or fabric (or another material if you want to BYO). This class is an introductory level, but anyone can join in the fun!
All materials and supplies included in the cost of the class.
This class meets weekly for 4 weeks on WEDNESDAYS.
Ages: 16 and above

Adult Session 3B • Microwave Raku • THU (May 30 - June 20) • Sterling Circle

Explore tiny sculptures and jewelry making with raku glazes.
In this class we will be exploring and experimenting with Microwave Raku! This class will include two microwave raku sessions along with two handbuilding sessions so students can explore tiny sculptures and jewelry making with raku glazes. This is the perfect class for folks who have never had experience with clay or for those who want to explore the wondrous world of raku!
This class meets weekly for 4 weeks on THURSDAYS at the Studio Arts Boulder Membership space at 3063 Sterling Circle, Boulder, CO. The Sterling Circle studio has a separate classroom for the handbuilding class. Firings will take place outside, and therefore students will spend part of the class outdoors in potentially inclement weather. Please dress accordingly.

The Family Clay Class is a great opportunity for children to work together with an adult to make hand-built pottery!
Students will learn a variety of hand-building techniques, using tools, textures, stamps, and molds. Instructor will lead students in both functional and sculptural pottery projects and students will paint each finished piece with colored slips. Emphasis is on working on a project as a family. This is a fun class, built around community and creativity!
Please note registration is for 1 child and their adult. If you have more family members that want to get involved, please send an email to registration@studioartsboulder.org!
